LITTLE TOKYO

Community Masterplan

Los Angeles, CA

The Little Tokyo Urban Design Project stands as a comprehensive vision and masterplan for preserving and enhancing one of Los Angeles' most culturally significant neighborhoods. This 20-acre development framework, targeting LEED Gold certification, carefully balances the preservation of rich cultural heritage with forward-thinking sustainable development strategies.

Centered around the upcoming Regional Connector light rail station, the plan strengthens the neighborhood's identity as a multicultural and multi-generational destination. Drawing inspiration from the Buddhist principle of “Mottainai,” the project integrates mixed-income housing and creative office spaces with innovative sustainability features, including stormwater management, community solar initiatives, and enhanced pedestrian infrastructure.
